Our Special Education Needs Co-ordinator is Rebecca Nicholson.

Pupils are regarded as having special educational needs if they have a significantly greater difficulty in learning than the majority of learners of the same age. Also, if they have a disability which either prevents or hinders them from making use of educational facilities of a kind provided for learners of the same age. In the vast majority of instances children identified as requiring support are catered for within class.

We aim to promote all of our learners as experts during their time in the school. We celebrate the fact that many of our learners possess a wide range of sporting, artistic or other talents. We take advantage of all opportunities to develop the expertise of learners who are gifted.

What is the Local Offer?

All Local Authorities are required to publish information about their services and what they expected to be available in their area to support children and young people from birth to 25 that have Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND). They also have to document alternative services from outside the area that children and young people from within their area could access. This publication is also known as the 'Local Offer'. The Local Offer has information about education, health and care services, leisure activities and support groups all in one convenient place.

Accessibility Plan

At Glascote Academy we celebrate the fact the every child is unique and therefore has different learning needs. Every Classroom caters for every child's specific learning needs. All staff have had up to date training and they understand that pupils need to learn in different ways and have different learning needs.

Our Accessibility Plan sets out the proposals of the Governing Body to increase access to education for disabled pupils. Please visit our policy page to view our Accessibility Plan. The Trust Equality Policy can be viewed on the Trust policy page.
